This was Patuxent MD his most recent area...now...From Patuxent, MD to Quint's Orchard,MD...hopefully Elder Horowitz will send more pictures soon of Quint's Orchard! I don't know if you can see some of his journal entries but this is what Elder Horowitz sent in March--a while ago..This is what we get :)(If I'm lucky!)

Transfer to Quints Orchard

So some temporal notes

1)I could really use some ties...  Colorful ones!  (But conservative)
2)I really want to have some good ol' I dunno, food..?  (not candy :))
3) I love you guys!

So I moved to a new area, Quint's Orchard, it's almost the very northernmost part of my mission, which is different from the almost very most southern area I was just in. (Very is a very descriptive word :) )

As I was leaving, I didn't create the opportunities  but the Lord had mercy on me and allowed me to say good bye to those I had grown close to...Most had tears in their eyes, when I said good bye... (me, too)
It was heart-wrenching.

Yet, one of my roomates phrased it the best, Elder Owens;
"You can't grow anymore here, you'll benefit more from leaving this place than from staying here."

...and he's right;  i was able to grow so much while I was here; but I will become a crutch to those around me if I stay any longer.  I love this area.  It was a great experience.  I'll keep in touch with them if I can.

I sit typing this in a college library, much different from the Family History Center I typed in last week...  I know in my heart I will continue on; that's just the kind of guy I am!  I always move forward, there's no sense in moving backward!  All the fights that I've won, all the personal battles I've had would be for naught if I slipped backward!  I progress onward so that I can become and instrument in the Lords hand, so I can better perform my calling, so I can fulfill my purpose!
Our Mission President is leaving, July first, to replaced with our new president.  It was kind of heart wrenching to sing the closing hymn at the transfer meeting.
  My new companion is Elder Epperson.  He seems pretty cool so far...

I guess that's all I have time for today!

MUCH LOVE!

Aram

DC Landing!

It's been really awesome these past few days...
Where to begin...?
Well, first thing we did was head to the temple, as soon as we landed, President Matsumori told us to wander the grounds, pick a spot, then make a promise to The Lord.  I chose to take the path less traveled and went on the Nature trail.  The tranquil environment contrasted with the beautiful temple, the barren trees with the greenery of the temple proper.
It was a calm moment that caused me to reflect on why I was truly there.
I felt in my heart, "This is the place".  This is my home for the next two years.  This is my battleground.  I want to do my very best!  In two years, all of us 'greenies' will be taken back to 'Return and Report' as per D.C. North tradition.  I hope I will be ready by then...
Anyways, to return to the goings on.  We had a meeting at the Mission Home with President Matsumori, who told us this, "This mission is a special mission, I'm not just saying that because all mission presidents are supposed to tell you that.  You are the Face of the Church for the Entire world.  For this reason, the Church is very aware of who they send here; we need you to be obedient. This is the political center of the world.  There are embassies from all the countries of the world-- except two; North Korea and Iraq.  You'll rub shoulders with the important decision-makers here, and when the Church comes knocking on their nations door, asking if they can come in, they'll remember you; the Missionaries that they've met."  (paraphrased a little)
That's a lot of pressure(just in case you weren't aware).
Oh and D.C. North is doing a Bike safety pilot program for the Church(Thankfully I'm not in a biking area to start out with).  My first companion is Elder Radford, he seems like an Awesome guy!  We are serving in the Patuxent area, and my First appointment is actually in half an hour (wish me luck!).  Besides that, I don't really have much to say...
Sorry!
(I'll get better at this as we go along)
Thanks!

I am no longer being trained!

May 1, 2013

This week starts a new transfer.  I can't really believe I've been out for that long!!  It doesn't really feel like I've been out for 3 months.  ...yet at the same time it feels like I've been out forever...  It's a strange position to be in.  I love it yet it's totally different.   Time here is conveyed in Transfers.  We have a total of 17 Transfers of being out... (I personally think they talk of it like that because 2 years sounds longer...)  I've been out for 2 of my 17.  It's an exciting yet daunting prospect.  I got a new companion, Elder Gualnovo(?), (He's from California) and he's my district leader! (and Polynesian)  Elder Radford was called to be a district Leader somewhere up in D.C.  and was transferred out of the Area.  Apparently, the Assistants told my Zone Leaders that they "raided our Zone for Leadership".  Basically, they took one of every companionship and made them either a Trainer, a Zone Leader, or a District Leader!  It's pretty  interesting.
... I am now no longer being trained!  I fear, yet at the same time I feel like this is going to be AWESOME!  I can really feel the weight of my calling yet I rejoice in that responsibility.  I want to be able to see my investigators through.  I rejoice.  I feel happy.  And last Transfer, I narrowed it down to 3 reasons I came out;
-1:  I came out share the joy that I felt when Colin accepted the gospel and was baptized.  To share that Joy that He felt and how they can feel that joy.
-2:  I came out to serve my Lord and my God.  To be able to stand before him and for He to be able to say "Well done, My good and Faithful Servant.  Thou hast done well"  I want to make him Proud.  (And you guys too!)
-3:  This is probably the greatest reason.  I want to have and Eternal Family of my Own.  I want to learn the correct principles one should be based off of.  How to raise children well.  How to Teach them simply and slowly those principles which they'll base the rest of their lives on.   I want to be able to see them all in the Eternities!  I want them to be HAPPY!

Anyways, I got to get going!  Thanks for everything!!!

Much LOVE!
