Hastening the work of Salvation

June 23,2013 Monday

Last evening John and I were able to attend the Missionary Fireside.  This was a special fireside for ward council members, any interested members, new mission presidents and wives and missionaries held at the Marriott Center in Provo Utah.  We watched it via satellite at the Ft Wayne Stake Center as John and I were visiting Ft. Wayne.

Aram's Mission President,  Pres and Sister Matsumori and their mission office staff and leadership were present and were spoken to and introduced by Elder Holland as were other ward councils in Laie, Hawaii and Lima Peru.

Somehow we hoped we might be able to see Aram...but at least we were able to see his mission president :) The fireside was amazing! One thing that impressed me was how the missionaries and the wards are encouraged to work together to find people to teach, how missionaries would be encouraged to use social media in a controlled setting at meeting house computers and how missionaries would be used to give guided tours in the church. I was also very touched by the video vignettes used to illustrate how we as members can petition the Lord to find our friends and family members My work and My Glory who are ready to listen to the gospel, thereby aiding the missionaries in this great work.

"Wishing will not make it so.

The Lord expects our thinking. He expects our action.

He expects our labors. He expects our testimonies. He

expects our devotion."
President Thomas S. Monson

"Whatever our age, capacity, Church calling, or

location, we are as one called to the work to help Him in

His harvest of souls."
President Henry B. Eyring

"There is a way for everyone … to participate in this

great work. We can each find a way to use our own

particular talents and interests in support of the great

work of filling the world with light and truth."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
